BIO

Sergio Bellotti is an international artist and educator renowned for his versatile drumming. He has performed with some of the world’s finest musicians and is highly sought after as an educator and clinician. An acclaimed TEDx speaker, he is a professor at the esteemed Berklee College of Music and the owner of both "247Drums" and "The Cymbal Boutique," businesses that cater to drummers' needs worldwide.

Originally from Bari, Italy, Sergio’s passion for music and exceptional drumming skills led him to move to Boston in 1995 to attend Berklee College of Music. Soon after arriving in the U.S., he met his long-time musical partner, fellow Italian and bassist extraordinaire Tino D’Agostino. Together, they founded and continue to lead "Spajazzy," a jazz fusion group that has featured renowned guitarist Mike Stern on both of their CD releases.

In addition to his professorship at Berklee, where students from all over the world come to study, Sergio serves as a faculty member at the Conservatorio Della Svizzera Italiana in Lugano, Switzerland. He also travels to Europe to conduct clinics, concerts, and master classes. Sergio is a drum artist for Yamaha Acoustic and Electronic drums.

Sergio has recorded or shared the stage with world-class musicians such as Blues Hall of Fame and Grammy-nominated Joe Louis Walker, Mike Stern, The Platters, The Drifters, Tom Scott, Nathan East, Robben Ford, Alessandra Belloni, Bernard Purdie, Rocco Ventrella, Italian famed composer Vince Tempera, as well as Columbia Records and Ropeadope recording artist GeGè Telesforo, among others. He has performed at international festivals such as the Montreal Drum Fest, The Golden Jazz 2015 in China, Bari In Jazz 2010, Cape Breton International Drum Fest, Berklee World Percussion Festival, PASIC, and five consecutive KOSA festivals.

Since arriving in Boston, Sergio has remained an integral part of the city’s vibrant music scene. He holds down the drum throne for his weekly gig with “We Jazz Up,” whose Tuesday night show at Slade’s has become a cherished ritual. The event often features surprise appearances by talented musicians.

Besides being an artist, educator, and clinician, Sergio supports drummers through his shops, "247 Drums" and the "Cymbal Boutique." His talents have been recognized by major drum gear manufacturers, and he endorses Remo drumheads, Sabian cymbals, Vic Firth drumsticks, and the 247 Drums 5T aluminum practice sticks, which he designed himself.

In 2017, Sergio received the “Outstanding Contribution to Jazz Education” award from the prestigious Jazz Education Network (JEN). With over 25 albums as a sideman and five as a leader, his discography spans genres from jazz to pop, fusion, and dance music. In 2023, he won the “Best Soundtrack” category at the RAI “Tulipani di Seta Nera” festival as a composer.

Sergio co-leads the duo PANoDRUMa with world-renowned handpan player Loris Lombardo, further showcasing his versatility and collaborative spirit.

Whether playing, recording, teaching, or supplying drummers with gear, Sergio Bellotti is a truly multifaceted artist dedicated to his craft.
